We are looking for a permanent, full time Data Governance Manager to join the Data Analytics and Insights Team at Head Office, Collingwood. This position is responsible for implementing data governance and developing the enterprise capability. The role leads the bank in data management and control minimising data risk, assuring data is compliant with regulatory obligations, uplifting data quality and improving data literacy.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and maintain the Enterprise Data Management Framework, including all policies, processes and guidelines
  • Assess and rollout compliance to the Data Governance Policy to ensure that data supports operational needs and strategic objectives
  • Assess and rollout compliance to the Data Quality Management Policy to ensure the bank’s data is of sufficient quality to support operational needs and strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security and I.T. to ensure that data is protected based on its classification, how it is handled and stored
  • Support the delivery of the Enterprise Business Information Model including the definition of each data domain and the identification and documenting of critical data and data controls
  • Lead and grow a team of data governance specialists and data steward partners • Improve records management to ensure data is managed, retained and disposed of according to compliance requirements
  • Define and report on key risk indicators and quality metrics in relation to data and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, processes and guidelines
  • Provide support and guidance to ensure data is owned and governed, data quality is maximised and data objectives are realised
  • Provide data governance thought leadership and keep abreast of changing regulation and legislation related to data risk management and data governance
  • Provide data governance expertise and guidance across the bank as required.

What you will bring

  • Significant data governance experience, preferably in the banking or finance sector
  • Experience in team leader or people management
  • Strong knowledge of APRA CPS234 and CPG235 and other data related regulatory requirements
  • Experience working with modern data governance and metadata management platforms
  • Experience managing data risks and related compliance/assurance activities
  • Knowledge of business and technology issues related to management of enterprise data assets and the protection of data
  • Experience in the development and implementation of data policies, standards and guidelines
  • Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals
  • Demonstrated consulting skills, including stakeholder engagement, workshop facilitation, change management, cultural change and performance measurement
  • Experience in I.T., data management or data analytics is a bonus
  • Bachelor's degree in computer or data science (or similar) or equivalent work experience
