We currently have multiple permanent, full time Lending Specialist positions available in our new, state-of-the-art Head Office in Collingwood or in our Moe Office. The Lending Specialist is responsible for applying Bank Australia credit standards to credit assessments, whilst meeting service level agreements for both customers and brokers, and contributing to the successful operation of the Lending Department. The Lending Specialists provide and maintain an excellent customer experience throughout loan processing functions.

What you will be doing
- Provide customers with appropriate products and services that meets their needs
- Load applications onto the system checking details of applications, updating customers’ personal, employment and financial details on the system
- Ensure loan applications are actioned and service level agreements are achieved
- Assess loan applications in accordance with lending policies and guidelines and ensure a high level of credit quality is achieved and maintained
- Approve applications (home loan, personal loan, credit cards and third party loans) within delegated lending approval authority and in accordance with Board Policy and loan delegation conditions
- Process verification checks for credit applications in accordance with Bank Australia Lending Policies and Guidelines and ensure a high level of credit quality is achieved and maintained
- Action requests for credit assessment tasks such as valuation requests, lenders mortgage insurance, first homeowner grants and security verification
- Assist to develop long-term mutually rewarding relationships between Bank Australia and its stakeholders, including customers, internal departments, and the banks broker network
- Remain abreast of legislation governing lending and impact on day-to-day loan processing
- Regularly review loan procedures and policy, recommend areas for improvement
- Process loan assessments for the TPD Lending Team (broker introduced lending) or internal branches/departments as well as assist with commercial loan assessments or reviews
- Process inbound lending enquiries (via phone and email) for the bank’s internal stakeholders and/or broker network in accordance with policy whilst delivering excellent customer service.
What you will bring
- Experience assessing, recommending and processing loans
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, lending policies and procedures
- Knowledge of lending legislation (e.g. National Credit Act and Privacy Act)
- Demonstrated ability to provide financial products to meet customer needs
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Effective decision making skills and ability to investigate and follow up queries
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure
- Knowledge of Bank Australia’s products and services is highly regarded
- Empathy to the customers’ financial situation
