We are currently seeking a fixed term (12months), full time Senior Data Consultant to join the Finance Team. The Position will be based in our Collingwood Office.

The Senior Data Consultant is responsible for driving the successful integration of data and reporting following on from the proposed merger of Bank Australia and Qudos Bank, along with the acquisition of Australian Unity’s banking arm.

Collaborating closely with stakeholders across the Finance, Credit Risk and Data, Analytics and Insights, the Senior Data Consultant is responsible for understanding and documenting the detailed requirements for the merged entity’s data and reporting environments. Once regulatory and shareholder vote milestones have been met, the role is critical in driving the activities required to merge data and reporting within the target state solution architecture.

The Senior Data Consultant reports into the Capital & Credit Risk team within Finance, with a secondary reporting line to the Senior Finance Business Partner within the Data, Analytics and Insights team.

What you will be doing

  • Develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across Finance, Credit Risk, Data, Technology, Lending and Customer teams and, where applicable, external vendors and consultants.
  • Through broad, cross-divisional consultation, elicit and document detailed functional and non-functional requirements for future state data and reporting environments of the merged entity. This encompasses mandatory data / reporting required immediately post-merger (primarily regulatory reporting), along with essential but non-mandatory data / reporting required in the near term post-merger (primarily management reporting).

Mandatory consolidated data and reporting required immediately post-merger/acquisition specifically includes:

  • Data required to produce Single Customer View (SCV) of end-of-day deposit balances as required by APS 910 Financial Claims Scheme (FCS)
  • Collective, specific and prescribed provision calculations and reporting per the requirements of Prudential Standard APS 220 Credit Risk Management
  • Credit Risk-Weighted Asset (CRWA) calculation and reporting as required by prudential standard APS 112 Capital Adequacy
  • Data required to feed Bank Australia’s asset and liability management system, QRM, for the purpose of managing Interest Rate Risk in Banking Book (IRRBB) per the requirements of APS 117 Capital Adequacy: Interest Rate Risk in Banking Book

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, or data-related disciplines such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, information management, etc.
  • Experience within financial services, which should include experience in a finance, data or risk function.
  • Retail banking industry experience.
  • Strong finance knowledge.
  • Strong data management experience.
  • Proven success at working with stakeholders across all levels of organisations to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, PowerBI, Databricks, or comparable technologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in business analysis and solution design, as well as process and procedure design.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts with clarity to stakeholders across all levels of technical competence.
  • Demonstrable experience in working with different project methodologies such as waterfall, agile, etc., along with their associated change management activities.
