The Credit Assessor is responsible for reviewing loan applications to ensure they meet the Bank’s credit policy, are appropriately structured for the applicant’s needs, and comply with credit standards. The role involves identifying and mitigating risks while working collaboratively with internal teams to deliver a smooth, high-quality loan assessment process.

What you will be doing
- Assess loan applications by analysing financial status, reviewing documentation, and interpreting valuation reports
- Liaise with Personal Bankers, Brokers, and Members to gather required information and facilitate loan negotiations
- Prepare and administer loan documentation, ensuring compliance with statutory and internal requirements
- Maintain data accuracy and provide feedback to frontline teams to improve application quality
- Manage your loan portfolio and stay up to date with policy, product, and regulatory changes
- Identify cross-sell opportunities and refer members to relevant products or services
- Ensure compliance with Bank policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct
- Meet performance and service standards, completing required training within designated timeframes
- Promote a safe work environment and report WHS incidents promptly
- Escalate concerns and contribute to continuous improvement
- Perform additional duties as directed by Management.
What you will bring
- Proven ability to deliver results and take accountability for credit decisions
- High integrity, professionalism, and sound judgement in assessing risk
- Strong customer focus with the ability to balance service and compliance
- Decisive and confident in making informed lending decisions
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in a similar credit assessment role
- Experience holding a Delegated Lending Authority (DLA)
- Knowledge of the full loan approval process, including documentation and settlements
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and business communication
- Solid understanding of mathematical concepts
