Following merger Day 1, the Bank has embarked on an ambitious post-merger integration program to set the conditions for future M&A growth as soon as possible. We are looking for an energetic Enterprise Portfolio Manager to lead the Bank’s business analysis capability and drive the governance of the organisation’s Strategic Project Portfolio while solving complex business problems, scoping the project work required to realise the Corporate Strategy, delivering assigned initiatives and setting an example in the art of the possible.

The Enterprise Portfolio Manager is at the intersection of where strategy development meets the reality of its implementation and ultimate realisation. The Enterprise Portfolio Manager provides meaningful input into the design and development of high-profile and high-risk strategic activity that seeks to achieve the Corporate Strategy. Their insights are drawn from extensive delivery experience and situations where they have been required to lead cross-functional teams to achieve desired outcomes.

The Enterprise Portfolio Manager is a leader who knows their team and deploys their people in a manner that sets them up for success while considering the needs of the Bank alongside the needs of the individual. They are also someone who takes ownership of what needs to be done and is willing to provide hands-on support to the execution effort as required.

This role can be based out of either the Head Office in Sydney (Mascot) or Melbourne (Collingwood); however, some travel between these locations will be required.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the Bank’s business analysis team to successfully achieve the delivery of strategic projects in support of implementing the Corporate Strategy.
  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer and Head of EPMO to develop, implement and evolve the Bank's Strategic Project Portfolio over a rolling 18-month time horizon.
  • Partner with Executives and senior leaders to drive the governance of the Strategic Project Portfolio across the enterprise and support timely decision making.
  • Partner with the Office of the CEO to ensure alignment of project delivery and the associated resource allocation with strategic priorities. This extends to interfacing with aspects of discovery and delivery handoffs.
  • Provide thought leadership and set the example for business and portfolio analysis.
  • Lead assigned initiatives across the Bank’s Strategic Project Portfolio, applying the right level of management or coordination to empower business leaders to achieve timely outcomes with an appropriate level of governance oversight.
  • Bring the right minds together to identify risks, resolve issues, solve complex problems and scope the work required to deliver the Strategic Project Portfolio.
  • Apply appropriate frameworks and disciplines to assist the Bank deliver its Strategic Project Portfolio, protect its critical path timeline and realise business objectives.
  • Take ownership of what needs to be done and be willing to provide hands-on support to execution as required. 

Oversee and be prepared to deliver if required:

  • Gap Analyses, Scoping Studies, Concept Papers, Business Cases;
  • Business/User/Testing Requirement Documents;
  • Options Papers and other artefacts in support of material business decisions.

What you will bring

  • Demonstrated success in delivering material outcomes within strategic transformation programs
  • Seasoned in solving complex problems, leveraging the collective expertise of an organisation.
  • Proven ability to engage, advise, and influence senior leaders, executives, and dispersed teams across hybrid environments.
  • Commitment to Bank Australia’s purpose, aspiration, values and brand as well as the B Corp ethos.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business Analysis, Commerce, Finance, Technology or related field of study.
  • 7-10 years of accumulated experience in a similar role or capacity.

Even better, if you have:

  • Pre or post Day 1 M&A delivery experience within the context of a previous Mutual Bank merger or another commercial acquisition or separation is desirable.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of a strategic enterprise-wide technology platform of material scale and cost is desirable.
  • Experience supporting a financial institution in complying with heightened regulatory requirements is desirable.
  • Experience delivering client engagements in a consulting environment is desirable.
  • An MBA from a Tier 1 business school would be valued.
