The Manager Security Operations leads the day‑to‑day operation and continuous improvement of the Bank’s cyber security monitoring, detection and response capabilities, ensuring timely identification, analysis and remediation of security threats and incidents. The role is responsible for maintaining an effective and resilient security operations function that protects the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data, while supporting regulatory and compliance obligations. Working closely with Security Engineering, Security Architecture, Technology teams and external partners, the role ensures operational security controls are embedded, responsive and aligned to evolving threats, enabling strong cyber resilience and informed incident response across the organisation.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the day‑to‑day security operations function, including monitoring, detection and response to cyber threats across the Bank’s technology environment.
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of security incidents, acting as the escalation point for major incidents and coordinating cross‑functional response activities.
  • Establish and maintain security incident management processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational standards.
  • Drive the development and continuous improvement of security operations capabilities, including automation, tooling, procedures and threat detection practices.
  • Lead the Bank’s threat intelligence capability, identifying emerging threats and translating insights into proactive defence and response strategies.
  • Ensure security controls are implemented and operating effectively, supporting risk management frameworks and compliance obligations (e.g. CPS 234, ISO 27001, SOC2).
  • Partner with Security Engineering, Architecture, Risk and Technology teams to embed operational security controls and improve overall resilience.
  • Lead and develop the security operations team, building capability, managing performance and fostering strong stakeholder and vendor relationships.

What you will bring

  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to operate autonomously, set priorities and deliver security operations outcomes in complex environments.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across Technology, Security, business teams and external partners.
  • Strong expertise in security operations, including monitoring, incident response and threat management across on‑premise and cloud environments.
  • Well-developed problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, able to assess complex security issues and implement effective responses.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, translating technical concepts into practical insights for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, managing performance and building capability across distributed environments.
  • Strong understanding of security operations practices aligned to regulatory and operational requirements, with the ability to apply risk‑based thinking.
  • Strong experience in security operations leadership roles, with relevant qualifications or certifications highly regarded and financial services experience beneficial.
